The Florida West Coast
The southwest cities and towns of Florida's Gulf Coast are known collectively as the Sun Coast. The Florida West Coast begins with Anna Maria Island near the mouth of Tampa Bay. This laid back island is home to three beach communities, Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, and Bradenton Beach, and the island is known for its excellent fishing.
South of Anna Maria Island is the Sarasota area, which includes the Sarasota Keys and Englewood. Home of the Ringling Museum, the Sarasota area is a thriving cultural center for Florida, as well as the location of many popular golf courses. The Sarasota Keys include Siesta Key, which is a frequent winner of prizes for the quality of its sand beaches.
